MicroLaserPeel
Questions & Answers
What is the
MicroLaserPeel?
It is an
intra-epidermal laser peel that precisely removes the outermost
layers of skin.
How is a
MicroLaserPeel different from Microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion
can remove up to 10 microns of epidermis after 4 to 6
treatments. The MicroLaserPeel can remove up to 50 microns of
epidermis in one session and is performed with a topical
anesthetic. Because this procedure ablates deeper into the
epidermis, it can be the perfect step between microdermabrasion
and full skin resurfacing.
What skin
conditions can it treat?
Skin conditions such
as fine lines and wrinkles, keratoses and abnormal pigmentation
have been successfully treated with a MicroLaserPeel.
Are there any
pre-treatment instructions?
No sun tanning
within three weeks of the procedure. You must stop use of
retinoids at least 48 hours prior to the Laser Peel.
What is the
recovery time?
Healing generally
takes three to four days. Symptoms following the procedure
resemble a sunburn. Peeling and itching occur on the second day.
Redness begins to fade on the third day. On the fourth day, the
redness will be diminished and easily covered by makeup.
What are the
post-treatment instructions?
It is important to
keep the treated area moist with Aquaphor or Bacitracin applied
twice a day. You may cleanse the area twice a day with cool
water and Cetaphil.
How many
MicroLaserPeels can be performed?
It can be done as
often as necessary to achieve the desired result. Typically, the
procedure is repeated 2-4 times spaced apart by 8-10 weeks.
What results can
you expect?
Your skin will
appear smoother, and more vibrant with improved skin texture and
tightness compared to microdermabrasion.
Why choose a
MicroLaserPeel?
Patients choose
Erbium resurfacing over more aggressive laser methods and
chemical peels because of the ability to control the depth of
the peel and the rapid healing time following the procedure.
